The article reports that the U.S. military is ending a long-running program designed to detect nuclear missile launches. A newer system has already been operational since 2011, reducing reliance on the older capability. The next-generation replacement may launch within 12 months, suggesting a planned modernization rather than an immediate loss of warning capacity. The available source description provides limited detail on the programs, rationale, costs, or operational risks.
