Trash No Land: We’re a Team Player

Sporting Systems is pleased to announce a supportive partnership with a local nonprofit, Trash No Land. This organization provides gun owners with information regarding target shooting on public lands, including locations and places to shoot.

More importantly, however, as its name suggests, this organization is dedicated to protecting and preserving our open spaces so that all may enjoy the great outdoors for generations to come.

As a “Team Player,” Sporting Systems supports Trash No Land so that gun owners and target shooters can act on their natural interest in preserving the environments in which they recreate.

After all, as John Muir wrote, it’s in the outdoors that “nature in her green, tranquil woods heals and soothes all afflictions.”

Trash No Land: Mission

The mission of Trash No Land is to save and improve places to engage in target shooting on public lands. It is a Washington-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization “dedicated to making a positive difference in recreational target shooting, toward the critical goal of protecting and preserving our public lands.”

Shooting areas, shooting ranges, and natural resources in the United States can coexist as partners in an active ecological community. Whether one shoots an air rifle, pistol, or other firearms at a paper target or cardboard figure, those interested in creating spaces for precise shooting practice and protecting the environment can support each other through this nonprofit.

Trash No Lands organizes and leads clean-ups at shooting sites in Washington and Oregon forests. They also assist forest management agencies in developing and improving shooting lanes. They advocate for shooting safety and provide a number of tips for safe and legal target shooting.

Notably, this is an all-volunteer organization. All efforts at clean-up, target shooting site identification, advocacy, messaging, and more are done via a network of committed and engaged citizens.

Sporting Systems is excited to be a part of the work being done by our friends at Trash No Lands. Their mission and ours have much overlap, including a shared emphasis on education, awareness, stewardship, citizen engagement, and problem-solving.

We encourage you to visit their website, especially their brochures page and FAQs to get a feel for the work they do and the plans they have for the future.

Recreational shooting is a wonderful activity for everyone, whether it’s law enforcement visiting Mt. Hood National Forest or a local who likes to occasionally stretch their legs in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forests.

And as always, we look forward to seeing you in our store! We are Vancouver’s gun store, and we look forward to meeting you.
