If you’re new to the series, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this Gat a sweet deal or only have Fudd appeal? Manufactured since 1978 by the French company MAS the FAMAS is one of those holy grail-type rifles. I mean that in the sense that it might be bad, good, or otherwise, but you’d never know because no one has one. I’ve had the privilege of shooting a lot of obscure, rare, and otherwise cool firearms and I’ve never encountered a FAMAS. It’s one of those guns that fell right in the middle of multiple weapons and import bans and I’m sure there’s really only a select few people that can buy them.

So is there anything really cool about it? Well not really considering it’s a .223 (all my research indicates it’s not up to 5.56 NATO spec) and it’s a simple blowback design. The idea of a blowback bullpup being worth anything close to this amount is absolutely insane. But hey, it’s a FAMAS and you don’t have one so you’ll never know just how good or bad it just might be.
