Harris vs Trump live: Poll shows Donald Trump’s lead over Kamala Harris shrinking in deep red Florida
Donald Trump has taken to Truth Social to try to explain what happened to his voice during his X Spaces interview with Elon Musk on Monday night after listeners reported hearing an uncharacteristic “lisp” during their chat.
Boasting about reaching a “record” audience with the live Q&A, the Republican presidential nominee added: “Unfortunately, because of the complexity of modern day equipment, and cellphone technology, my voice was, in certain areas, somewhat different and strange.”
In California, Kamala Harris’s running mate Tim Walz hit back at attacks on his military record from his Republican counterpart JD Vance and others, after he was accused of ending his 24-year stint in the National Guard in 2005 to run for Congress and dodge a deployment to Iraq.
“I am damn proud of my service to this country,” Walz said in an address to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon.
“And I firmly believe you should never denigrate another person’s service record.”
Meanwhile, Harris may be improving her odds in deep red Florida. New polling shows Trump’s lead over the vice president has significantly diminished to just a five percentage point lead.

Veterans hit back in Walz’s defense after Trump attacks his service record
More than 1,000 US military veterans and family members of veterans have signed on to an open letter condemning what they describe as “politically motivated attacks” on Democratic vice presidential pick Tim Walz’s military service by former President Donald Trump and his running-mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.
The thousand-strong group of “veterans, veteran families, military families, caregivers, and survivors” said they are all “appalled” at the attacks on Walz, who retired from the Minnesota Army National Guard after a 24-year career that saw him ascend to the rank of command sergeant major, the highest rank for any enlisted person in the Army.
Andrew Feinberg has the story.
