We Knife Co. Archeozoic Shows off Nested Bolster Lock

First shown off in September, the We Knife Co. Archeozoic is here. Despite the name, this one comes fully decked out in primo modern materials.

We’ve alluded several times to We Knife Co.’s early days, where most of the models they rolled out were on the larger side. It’s safe to say that, despite considerable diversification over the years, the company has not forgot those days, with a number of recent releases sporting the large EDC/tactical knife dimensions. The Archeozoic will please anyone looking for a knife built to the imposing specifications of yore, with a blade that lands at the upper end of what we normally see on folders.

This one has the two-tone blade that is a We Knife Co. signature

The blade here runs all the way out to 4 inches, in a very sleek and appealing drop point shape. A divot in the center of the blade spine provides an indexing point and also gives the swedge a bit of harpoonish style. A flipper is the sole opening method here, with a low, squat tab to keep the knife’s flowing profile unbroken. The blade steel is the We Knife go-to, M390, the European stainless super steel that specializes in higher than average edge retention and strong stain resistance.

We’s design team created a handle here that is the perfect counterpart to the blade. It’s clean and slick, sculpted from a series of short lines and a couple of larger, curving cuts where the fingers will fall. There’s a large titanium bolster above scales that can be made from a suite of luxe materials, including rose carbon fiber and Arctic Storm Fat Carbon. The most interesting aspect of the Archeozoic’s handle, however, is the lock: it’s a “nested bolster lock,” meaning that the lock bar is cut into the bolster, but inward from the edge so that it is encircled on all sides by bolster material.

The Archeozoic is available now.
