Blade Show 2024 is (Almost) Here

Just in case you’re new around here: Blade Show 2024 will be opening its doors tomorrow and running all weekend. The mid-year production is the highlight of the summer for knife fans, and one of the biggest shows of the year.

The knife hobby isn’t seasonal: new stuff is always happening, and there’s always a show to look forward to, no matter what time of year it is. The shows run the gamut too, from major trade events like SHOT, all the way down to small, enthusiast-approved traditions like The Gathering. In a broad sense, however, you can sort knife shows into ‘production-oriented’ or ‘custom-oriented’ productions.

Blade Show occupies a unique position in the knife show roll call, because it fuses these two halves off the knife world, holding equal interest to production knife manufacturers as well as custom makers – and, by extension, fans of both as well. There’s almost always some big production news out of the show, whether that news consists of surprise reveals or the first in-person debut of previously-announced models. We’ve recently written about the Blade Show run-up reveals from Spyderco, CRKT, and Cold Steel, and visitors will be able to see this stuff in person over the weekend.

Meanwhile, custom makers have been working tirelessly for months on the blades they’ll be bringing to their tables, possibly to be taken home by some lucky collector by Sunday. Earlier this month we wrote about Chuck Gedraitis’s Micro Switchblade, which is coming to Atlanta and which he hopes will win one of the Blade Show Awards on Saturday, and you can bet there’ll be lots of other custom blades of all sizes to ogle too.

Finally, Blade Show is a great place for smaller and/or up-and-coming shops to strut their stuff too. Younger labels that will be familiar to KnifeNews readers, like GiantMouse, Vosteed, Jack Wolf, and Demko Knives, are all going to be there with stuff to show off. And Badfeather Knives, makers of the Raider Creek EDC, are getting in on the fun this year and exhibiting for very first time.
