Pulsar Thermion 3 XT60 Thermal Scope Gets a Two-Month Field Test
November 7, 2026
The Firearm Blog's Eric B spent about two months with a pre-production Pulsar Thermion 3 LRF XT60 thermal riflescope and calls it the best thermal scope he has used.
Key points
- Specs: a 1280x1024 sensor, 2 to 24x zoom, a 60 mm objective, a built-in laser rangefinder rated to 1,200 meters, and a conventional 30 mm tube.
- Testing: dry nights, rain, fog and humid conditions, from a tripod and on a rifle, while watching hogs, coyotes, foxes and several kinds of deer.
- Strengths: image quality good enough to identify animals, a wide field of view, an LPVO-style zoom ring, 65 mm eye relief, a removable battery rated up to 8.5 hours, and USB-C power.
- Drawbacks: it is heavy and expensive, it shifts the balance forward on light rifles, the power button is easy to press by accident, and the rangefinder did not work in fog.
Quick take
Eric B says he would buy it himself and prefers it to other Pulsar models and competitors for bolt-action and semi-automatic hunting rifles. He does not recommend it to buyers on a tight budget or those who want the lightest carbine setup. The unit was a pre-production sample from Pulsar and a distributor, so firmware and details may change before retail.
